Bureau de Tabas

// 02.28.06

These guys, Bureau de Tabas, tipped me off to their own site, and the press release kind of info they sent is just so damn strange, I decided to just slap it on here and call it a night. I don’t what else I could possibly say about it that they didn’t…

“There’s a smoke shop near my house. Just like any one else, I often go there, even if I don’t smoke.There, I can find cigarettes, gums, matches, pens, and just about anything else I might need. It is also the place were I meet a whole bunch of people, from my neighbourhood, my building, etc…

“Tabas’ smoke shop” is made of various and divers’ products, inspired by everyday life and all the little things surrounding me. One can find limited editions, hand-made odd craft, clothes, drawings, pictures, and even paintings.

Some see signs, other see forms and contemporary patterns. I, on the other hand, try to input what I love and prefer and blend it all :

Apples, warm colors, eating in the garden, graffiti, the GM homies, shaddocks, simplicity, urban pictures, sexy girls, sobriety, skateboards, stickers, olive oil pastas, sleeping, paint drips, originality, siao’s bullshit, Diogènes’ verses, Marseilles’ sun, Antoine’s French fries from Brussels, the orange colour, illegal street logos, white chocolate, liptonic, Louis de Funes films, ice creams, summer fun at Moker’s house, vehicles, beach bar-b-q’s, trash, taking pictures, 70’s style objects, the colour of chocolate, luka, travels…”

hmmm. Crazy French people. Very nice stuff. The paintings are pretty amazing.

fuss

// 02.28.06

The guys at Fuss have set up a very cool little shop carrying their tees and a few choice others, music, toys, magazines and posters. Plenty of shit to spend your cash on. I especially dig this hippie / Raiders logo mashup with his peace sign sticker on his helmet and floral bandana. Awesome! (check that hoodie out too!)

The t-shirt is from the Limited Edition MHI guest artists series, which doesn’t even seem to be available on their own site, but I do recommend the Born To Ill tee

the perfect tee

// 02.27.06

I’m at work and didn’t get a tee up for you last night… sorry. But here’s something interesting about sustainable, eco-friendly tree hugger shit you can read today. It’s about an awareness that goes beyond t-shirts, but the discussion is centered around them because “[a t-shirt] means something to everyone, engaging with experts at the forefront of sustainable design, high street clothing manufacturers, squatters in Amsterdam and grannies in Scotland.”

Horchata

// 02.24.06

Beezo, the guys who brought us one of our favorites, the “Enjoy Carne Asada” t-shirt a long time ago, is back with a couple of other winners. First there’s this awesome rip on the Heineken label with the Mexican rice and almond hangover cure drink, Horchata. And they’ve also got a couple of others for all of you representin’ SoCal vato style, large bandana style print with Lakers or Dodgers logos incorporated into it. They’ll probably get cease and desist orders from the teams, so get one now, or you’ll have to go to the swap meet to find ‘em.

just in case you need it: Slauson Swap Meet, 1600–1680 W. Slauson Ave., South L.A. (323) 778-6055

Organ Funk

// 02.23.06

I came across these dudes the other day scouring the web for some fresh new tracks to download, and they provide that and a nice line of t-shirts to boot, so there’s plenty of shit to look at over at Via. I’m especially diggin’ this “Ye Olde Tyme Organ Funk” tee.

And “The Most Shady”. So don’t miss that one. These guys aren’t afraid to take on serious issues that plague the natural world. Not only is nobody talking about it, most choose to pretend they never knew it existed. But it’s real. C’mon people, it’s time we woke up to what’s happening on these continents that us humans aren’t even hard enough to populate. What does that tell ya? Fuckin’ icey ghetto.

George Bush does not care about flightless birds.

Nuture girly charity tee

// 02.22.06

Hey ladies, I know I don’t hook you up as much as I should, and I know I keep saying I’ll make an effort. But, c’mon, we all know I’m lying. Nothing personal. I’m a dude. I shop for dude’s shirts, that’s all. But I was tipped off to this one and since it’s good a fresh design (by Luminatii) and a percentage of the sales go to the Red Cross reconstruction effort of The City Next Door, there you go. The girly shirt of the month. Or fiscal quarter… or something.

I promise, I’ll try to try. Maybe.

Suck, Brush, Rinse

// 02.21.06

Speaking of brushing your teeth… what kind of impact do you think drinking nothing but blood has on a vampire’s teeth as compared to coke? (I’ve been told coke does wonders for your teeth, by the way) Probably not a lot of calcium in there. Some sugar I guess. Hell, I don’t know. And does it even matter since they’re immortal? I guess not. Maybe only emo looking vampires with bangs like this brush. Anyway… Young Lovers has some cool stuff going on including this one. And I’m also really diggin’ the Pirate King one. I’ve always wished my name was Jack so I could get a huge Jack of hearts tat covering my back. I think I’ll go ahead and change my name and get a pirate jack tat. Yeah, alright, gotta go Google how to legally change your name…

And, hey, do me a favor. When you go buy from Young Lovers, tell them the TeeJunkie sent ya. Their site says for each 5 referals, they’ll hook me up with a free tee. Nice! Go on now. Click, click, buy, buy. And remember… “The TeeJunkie sent me! He rules!”

Check this beauty out from Anonymous Apparel! It’s got a large graphic on it, which I’m usually not a big fan of. But with this awesome illustration with lots of line work and detail, it’s an exception. I’m always impressed with hand rendered stuff when it comes across in a print nicely like this.

According to the sizing chart, it’s got a cut like an American Apparel tee, but it has a raw edge around the bottom and inside-out seams around the arms. Awesome! Can’t wait ’til mine arrives this week and see how it goes when I wear it to work on casual Friday since you’re not supposed to wear tees. Jeans, this tee and a blazer. Sweet.

note: I’m keeping notes for the 2006 top ten list. You know, the list I didn’t do in 05. This one’ll be there fo sho.

Hide Your Arms

// 02.19.06

Andy from across the pond, who runs a newly launched blog about hoodies and track jackets and such, asked the TJ to be the first to contribute to a “what’s your favorite hoody” kind of feature on his site. Being the swell guy I am, I happily obliged. My choice shouldn’t be new to long time teejunkie readers since I ran it here a long time ago, but have a look around over at Hide Your Arms for some tips on hot hoodies.

Secret Code

// 02.19.06

Alright, this might not be a big surprise. Or maybe it will be. I dunno. Somebody told me about this code, and I hadn’t been over to Threadless in a while and I had a few street team points so I gave it a try and it works. So anyway, go to Threadless and buy 3 shirts, enter “tenbucks45″ as a coupon code, and you get them for 10 bucks each. I don’t have any details for you as far as expiration date or anything. Maybe it was in the newsletter that I don’t read. I don’t know, but thought I’d share.

Inventory seems a little low, but I got the 4 color swatch palette one, best mime ever and urban goddess.
