Welcome back to Hecklewood

// 04.30.06

Hellsyeah! Awesome 80s shit going on with the new line from one of the TJ’s favs, Hecklewood. (I wear the shit out of my drop riffs not bombs and pee chee tees). Anyway, for kids of the 80s like me, this is the shit. Man, bringing back the days of flourescent colors, huge graphics, 3D (pictured here) complete with a free pair of 3D glasses and even a “gnarly army” sleeveless hoody.

Makes me wanna go throw Christina in my Walkman iPod (this Christina, not Aguilera), some checkered Vans and get out my old G&S Neil Blender board and hit the streets. Ah, the good old days.

note: get yourself some Christina reissues here, I highly recommend Sleep It Off.

Deathtrooper

// 04.27.06

Speaking of geeks…

This is the by far the coolest Star Wars themed shirt I have ever seen! There was the cool one from Urban Arts that I awarded with a “Shirty” (hey, I forgot all about those!) and that one that some dude was hand painting that was like a mash-up of a Stormtrooper helmet and Hello Kitty, but this one is the shit!

Maybe it could do without the drips, but who am I to complain about a tee this awesome? And this is another one that would make great stickers too.

Note: the site is Flash, so I can’t link you right to it, but it’s shirt number 18 in the list. 3 and 4 (the strip club ones) and 17 (Mr. T) are very nice as well.

Apple anyone?

// 04.26.06

This one’s for all you geeks out there. Not that all Mac addicts are geeks or anything, but that’s pretty much who All Tribes’ gear is aimed at. I saw their RTFM (read the fucking manual for all you non-geeks) tee on a dude in Wired magazine yesterday. In a little piece about this show. I haven’t watched any episodes of it yet, but sounds like it’ll be a smash hit with all you IT types out there. If that’s you, have a look.

note: again, the logo up there is somewhat, I guess, finalized… for now anyway, so if it’s squished or something, hit refresh again.

Scratch rules!

// 04.20.06

I’ve had one too many margaritas tonight and I’m feeling a little sleepy already, so I was just gonna crash out and leave you hangin’ until I saw an email tipping me off to this. And all I gotta say about this one is… Who the hell doesn’t want a tee with Lee “Scratch” Perry on it?! I know I sure as shit do. I guess if you don’t know who he is, then you probably don’t want this shirt, but for all of you who are down, here it is and some others that any self respecting stoner would be proud to wear at Wadada Means Love, not that you gotta blaze it to appreciate reggae or dub, but you know, it doesn’t hurt either.

Nice range of kids tees (on organic tees) and art prints too. I’d slap that Miles Davis tee on my kid and send him off to school. Awesome.

A tidbit you might not know about Scratch, legend has it he put a curse on the BBC that can only be broken by playing his records around the clock. Okay, enough drunken rambling. Good night you cursed wankers!

Splitting Atoms

// 04.19.06

I saw this one a while back, but I’m kinda glad I waited on it ’cause I think there’s new stuff since last time I looked at it. Anyway, it’s a Threadless-like tee site, and so far, they’ve got a quite impressive selection of designers involved. This one is designed by MAKI who has had a handful of designs printed up by Threadless. Others winners include a couple of my favorite designers Jon Burgerman and The Boy Fitz Hammond.

So you know the routine… have a look around, shop, vote, design, submit, maybe win 250 pounds.

sale time again.

// 04.19.06

Secret Handshake is having a $15 sale on some of their older (but still awesome) designs. So go have a look please.

p.s. what do ya think of the new tagline? the graphic is temporary while i finish a new logo, so if the header up there looks fucked up, hit refresh.

floater

// 04.18.06

If there is one tee I’ve come across lately that is exactly my style, this “Floater” tee from Lowercase is it. It’s got a cool graff meets bored in the classroom doodling style to it. But like you then took that doodle and did a clean version of it in Illustrator.

When I saw it, I thought, “oh shit, I need a sticker of that to slap on my laptop”, then noticed it’s available as a die-cut vinyl sticker. Nice! I gotta have one of each.

And don’t worry, if this one’s not your style, they’ve got several excellent designs including this sweet Roland 303 one.

counter culture sale

// 04.17.06

The guys at Counter Culture just posted a comment on that sweet Particle shirt I wrote up a long time ago… this one and said you can get it (and everything else I assume) for 20% off until the end of April. Enter “Spring” in the coupon code spot in the shopping cart.

mmm. sausage.

// 04.17.06

Never before have spinal cord injuries really struck me as funny, but this awesome tee from The Handsome Sausage sure as hell is. I played football when I was younger. Up to the point where some of the kids started looking like 30-year-old men and had more hair on their face than I did on my legs.

So looking back, maybe being a quiter paid off, considering I still have full use of all of my limbs. So kids, take it from me, quit the team and start partying now. You’ll thank me someday.

Plus those guys slap each other on the ass all the time. Do you really want to slap hairy men on the ass? That’s so gay…

Oh, Mona!

// 04.12.06

Wow! Mucho cool shit over at Destroy Clothing, but this “Oh Mona” one takes the cake… right in that permanent “O face” (you’ve seen Office Space, right?) piehole of hers. I dunno, do you think it’s a commentary on how the art world is a whore, selling out to the highest bidder? Or just a couple of recognizable but completely contrasting mugs? Either way, it’s an awesome mash up of imagery. You can’t see it very well in this shot, but Mona has a round, red mouth as well. Nice.

Also, you gotta have the one that says, “I’d give my right arm to be ambidextrious”.
