T-shirt resolution
Wednesday, January 7, 2009 7:50I’ve always had a downer on organic Tees. It goes back to the days when they were designed by beard-sprouting hippies who lived in caves – and that was only the women – and were made out of cotton that seemed to have been harvested and spun by blind beggars with something against teeshirt wearers, because they always left chunks of unprocessed cotton balling in them, that destroyed silkscreen designs by making a lump over which the image didn’t take properly and made the garment as itchy as buggery.
If, like me, you think design and fit are the whole point of a tee, then this didn’t exactly make organic teeshirts an interesting alternative to the mainstream.
Time moves on. Kay keeps swanning around in organic T-shirts that seem almost reasonable. She persuades me that 2009 might be the year of the organic tee and Mikey forming a relationship. I go browsing. And this is what I find.
Not just a teeshirt, not just an organic teeshirt, but an organic teeshirt with a bloody brilliant design and a sale price! Don’t say I’m not good to you.
Spunky have redesigned their website, and as they won’t be strutting their stuff at Glasto in 2009, perhaps this new design will focus their attention on customer service, which varies from excellent to weird, depending on who you talk to and how close they are to going to/freaking at/recovering from Glastonbury. Still, this Tshirt is a bargain for the cash-strapped fashion and environment fan and long may they keep up their standards.
