The Eyes Have It T-shirt
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 7:44Sometimes we get sent a real gem. This is one such, kindly emailed into the old mailbox by somebody called Jean and I can’t tell if that’s Jean a bloke from over the Channel or Jean a bird from almost anywhere else, but cheers Jean, whatever you are.
In the world of teeshirts strong design is king, and this design is noble. It’s eyecatching at first, and the more you look at it, the more weird detail there is to satisfy the viewer, apart from the fact that after a couple of beers the eyes seem to follow you around the room without the T-shirt wearer actually moving, which is pretty disturbing.
I am much preferring this on black, which is called pepper for reasons unknown, to the mustard version which is called sunrise. Wouldn’t want to live where the sun comes up that colour! Still, excellent T-shirt, weirdly hybridising Salvador Dali and Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos, couldn’t be anything other than French, could it? Well, Spanish, I suppose. Qhuit – sounds French to me, and if you click the cart page it tells you panier est vide which is not an insult, just a suggestion you buy something.
Anyway, it’s 32 euros, which is round about £29 or $42 – a stonking cost for a T-shirt, but it is beautifully printed and where else can you own artwork of any quality at all for under several thousand *currency of choice* I ask you?

I like this tee. The eyes look like eggs, I think. In French, ‘eggs’ is ‘oeufs’ and ‘eyes’ is ‘yeux’ the sound is similar. It reminds me lyrics of a French song: ‘Une omelette avec les yeux de ton père’ which means ‘Beaten eggs with your father eyes’.

Hey I like the tee too! the eyes on that T-shirt don’t look like eggs to me, but they are really colorful and funny. I have a friend that wears that kind of clothes, I find it so original. I give this design a A+!
