Tonic and Donna Karan: Save the Planet and Spend your way out of the Recession T-shirt
Friday, April 24, 2009 3:54
If you have $65 to spare and fancy giving the planet and the economy a helping hand, Donna Karan and Tonic have the answer. It’s four limited edition teeshirts that are 70% bamboo, 30% organic cotton and based on four key themes: Well-being, Save Our Planet, Preserving Cultures, and Future for Our Children.
Designed by Ms Karan, 10% (yes, it’s % day here at Teejunkie, see how many times I can get the symbol into one post!) will go to her foundation for good works, Urban Zen, while a further 10% (another one!) goes to Tonic’s own charity where customers and staff decide who gets the moolah. I suppose you could offer to pay 20% less for your tee and clean up your own street, or plant a few trees, but they might not take too kindly to eco-entrepreneurship from customers. I dunno, worth a try?
This T-shirt is available in black, green and white – the reason I picked it out of the bunch is there’s a nostalgic feel to it, the lettering looks like a saloon bar sign from the Old West, and it works nicely with (ahem) the female form. Of course, for $65 you might feel it should wash the dishes and walk the dog too, but just think of all the good your money is doing …
