Okay, perhaps I’m being a bit cynical (okay, more than a bit cynical) right now. The thing is, it’s that time of year when young Americans celebrate joining the real world by hiring stupidly expensive costumes and having their photos taken in madly ugly hats. Then they realise they don’t have a job (or they have a job to go to but they don’t like it, or they like it but it won’t pay enough to live on, or it does pay enough to live on but they have seventy years of student debt to pay off etc) and their shiny new degree probably isn’t going to help much and they get depressed and spend the next six weeks getting drunk. They fund this drunk spree by selling off the graduation presents given to them by adoring (ie blindly stupid) family members.

So for those graduands, and all their families, an honest gift that can be given with love: a ‘Thanks Wikipedia’ T-shirt. Why? For being an unfailing source of information in a handy cut and paste style, for being the essay mill of choice, for always being there when the paper is due and the student only has ten minutes to cobble something together – Wikipedia graduates more students than any other system of tuition!
