Back in the day T-shirt

Saw a bloke wearing this in the pub and had to find out where he’d got it. Sometimes these all-over block print teeshirts can look shite, especially if they have Marilyn Monroe in green and orange on them, but this one is very subtle. Although I’m not totally happy about the white ‘ringer’ neck – I think it looks a bit naff.
cassette Back in the day T shirt Nick Hornby wrote a book about a man who loses his girlfriend but never forgets every cassette tape he made for her. All the playlists, burned into his mind. So maybe this is a man thing, the love of old cassettes and vinyl and maybe, if you’re my granddad, eight-track.

Still, this T-shirt design has appeal even if you don’t love music and didn’t learn the sleevenotes to your favourite album by heart when you were sixteen. The colourways are varied enough to wear this with jeans down the pub, like the bloke I met, or with a pair of halfway-smart trousers to go out for dinner and at $28 with postage, it’s a good deal.

Digital Gravel, where the shirt can be found, is a site that seems to say nothing about itself or why it exists. Fair enough. Soulful Commandoe, the shirt’s creator, has enough profile for him and a few others too, though.

    Hi Mikey

I’m starting up a new t shirt label and would love the opinions of you and other t shirt aficionados on what constitutes a good basic tee. I pasted a link to my survey in the website box, look forward to hearing from you :-)
