Long T-shirt from Long
Saturday, September 19, 2009 10:31
Long was only formed in 2008, but they’ve created a real identity for themselves – it’s based on two things: long T-shirts and powerful simple shapes that work intrinsically with the T-shirt shape.
Formed by Gareth Emmett and Rhys Dawney, the Tees were first sold at clothing markets around North East London, where they fitted perfectly into the solid ska culture that still continues there. Now you see them on skinny skateboards and DJs – and while they definitely aren’t for the more substantial in body shape, there’s something starkly appealing about the simplicity and boldness of these drape T-shirts.
The dripping face T-shirt is obviously going to be the biggest hit of the year with emo types, but I was more taken by the wild animal silhouette – it’s one of those designs that speaks volumes in all languages.
