No defect Dephect T-shirt

Call me prejudiced in favour of my own, but I can’t help feeling that London still has some of the best T-shirt designers around. If I’d seen this tee last week, it would have been my Halloween pick for sure. Look at it – perfect art, brilliant colourwork and something of the dark side about the theme.

Formed in 1999 Dephect is two guys who claim to be involved in a variety of alternative scenes but with strong roots in hip-hop. They work with a team of friends to refresh their inspiration in design from sources such as snowboarding, BMX and graffiti. Lasting ten years in the cut-throat world of clothing design is a pretty good benchmark, but to do it with such freshness and passion is just cool beyond belief.
What impresses me about this t-shirt is that it’s totally urban – if you had to pick a theme for London it probably wouldn’t be rats, and the muppet-headed Mayor of London would likely try to throw you in the Tower if you did, but there is something exactly right about this T-shirt, epitomising the city as I see it every day. Love it.
