Wiftees T-shirts: a pretty sweet tee
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 8:39
Let’s start with the blurb. Wiftees was founded in 2009 when Nilay Patel realized he didn’t care how competitive the T-shirt market was. It was just a matter of getting people to see what Wiftees could offer – which is everything they could want in a T-shirt: high-quality, affordable, environmental-friendly, provocative shirts produced and printed in the United States. Sounds like a simple concept, right? Well, it is. And Nilay Patel is a pretty simple (and fairly smart) guy living the American Dream. Thanks to his uncle, he was able to immigrate to the Unites States several years ago, and he lives in Kentucky. He attended Bowling Green University and studied web development.
Okaaay – what does Wif stand for (dunno, we never find out, either that or I’m an even crappier researcher than I thought) and why should we care?
Well actually, these are pretty nice T-shirts, especially this sugar ‘hi’ one (get the joke, sugar high?) which I would definitely wear. There’s something weird about the models who wear the tees though – what’s with the arched back, hand on hip stuff? (maybe they’ve all been painting the walls and putting up shelves for Nilay, given that this is such a new company, and they’ve got back-ache?) so I picked a picture where they aren’t doing that because it’s freaky.
Also, I can’t quite work out the ‘fix polluted environment’ T-shirt – toxic waste at the bottom and beautiful clouds at the top – what’s the message here? Or maybe I’m just having a bad day, I dunno.
Anyway, some of these Tees are good, some are okay, and I don’t think it’s obligatory to put your hands on your hips while wearing them. The price at $20 is good, and free delivery over $30 means one for you and one to give as a Christmas gift works out as a very ’sweet’ deal.
